Clergy, others make pitch for affordable housing in Valparaiso

Members of the clergy and community approached the Valparaiso City Council during Monday’s public comment segment to make a plea for officials to undertake a concrete plan for affordable housing, something they said the city has considered for years but not moved forward on.
“This is a pressing issue right now,” said Valparaiso resident Drew Wenger, adding the city’s real estate market is hot, driving up prices. “People are being priced out of homes, people like me.”
